The main difference between writing for copywriting and writing for content marketing lies in the purpose for which the text is created.
Copywriting
The purpose of copywriting is to persuade readers and get them to take action, such as making a direct purchase or signing up for a newsletter.
For this reason, copywriting is used in advertisements, landing pages, marketing emails, and, in other words, in all formats that call for a direct and, ideally, immediate response from the reader.
Content marketing
Copywriting techniques are also used in content marketing because an article published on a company’s blog, for example, must be written in a simple way and must be able to hold the reader’s attention.
The difference is that, in content marketing, the company's primary goal is not to convince someone to buy something right away but to provide readers with information that can actually be useful to them.
Through this content, if the explanations are useful and reliable, the audience can begin to see the company as a trusted authority in its industry.
Content marketing includes blog articles, videos, and content published on social media.
